Amber Petruccy
Hi everyone! My name is Amber Petruccy and I was raised in Harford County, Maryland. I attended college at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania, graduating with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 2012. It was during my time at Etown that I attended a cardio-kickboxing class and my love for fitness was inspired.
For five years after college, I lived in Delaware, Maryland, and Connecticut before settling in Staunton, Virginia almost 5 years ago. Despite the nomadic lifestyle, my dedication to fitness never wavered. After exploring cardio and weight training on my own, I spent almost 3 years training in Crossfit gyms. It was here that I fell in love with Olympic Weightlifting. After leaving Crossfit, I earned my USAW Level 1 certification and have coached weightlifting for 3 years.
In addition to my weightlifting certificate I earned my CPT from NASM, the National Academy of Sports Medicine, in July 2020 and earned my Group Fitness Instructor certification through AFAA in May 2021. Currently, I teach for Staunton City Schools full time and lead group fitness classes, along with personal training sessions, at Phoenix Fitness and Yoga.
My personal philosophy of fitness is that it should be fun, challenging, and rooted in science so that you get the results that you desire, whether it’s weight loss, muscle building, overall strength gains, or a specific performance goal. I also believe that no one should have to work with a trainer forever- that it’s my job to impart knowledge and skills you can use to meet your goals and continue your fitness journey.
