Fitness for Busy Parents

We’re Busy.
We’re parents of three fun, goofy, loud, loving, and wild children.
We have our day jobs.
We run some gyms!
We do our best to keep up with maintenance and cleaning of our house and vehicles.
We’re busy!
There’s a lot left off that list and of course the details may look different from yours, but at the end of the day, we’re busy just like pretty much everyone else.
Also a fact: Fitness is important to us!
We are loving the opportunity to bring the Newtown Fitness Club concept to Cville and we hope the idea of booking some you-time around whatever schedule works for you provides some relief and motivation: Relief from stress of having to consider other people in your workout time, Motivation from having a dedicated appointment on your schedule for getting a solid workout in.
However, just because we run the gyms doesn’t mean we’re working out in there constantly! Like a lot of parents, we find it difficult to get ourselves to the gym although we are well aware of the long-term benefits of fitness. We’d often rather end the day with a pint of ice cream and a couple episodes of our latest, favorite show :)
The Newtown Fitness Club concept works for us since we can book quick 30 minute or 1 hour workouts here and there during the week when our schedule allows (turns out when you don’t have to wait for equipment, you can have much more efficient workouts). On weekends we’ll even book a big two-hour block for a family workout where we crank up the Disney tunes or some old school hip hop and set up an obstacle course with something for everyone (a little heavy lifting, quickness, coordination, endurance, etc).
The other days when we can’t make it in for a workout or we’re out of town, we don’t have an ounce of guilt regarding a wasted gym membership, paying for time we’re not using, so we do what we can with at-home 15 min workouts, or simply fitting in 20 squats here, 10 push-ups there, and maybe a mobility/stretching session during that favorite show :)
